John Baldessari

We’re not the best art critics to evaluate the life and work of John Baldessari, who has passed away yesterday. But we do loved his work, his wit and his approach to art. He was a huge influence and a model. He was just great.

During our first years, when interviewing our favorite artists, we asked everyone, as a last and conclusive question, “what would you ask John Baldessari”. We did that for many years hoping to be able to ask them all at ones sometime. In my imagination, Baldessari would have answered them all -and even laughed at some.

Here’s a few of his artworks to remember him, and the beautiful video Tom Waits narrated telling the Brief History of John Baldessari.
