Fred Free's work explores purposeful randomness, overlooked fragments, figments of imagination, invented memories, unidentification, disconnects, reconnects, edges, empty spaces, full emotions, humor, love, loss, lists, words, glue and paper.
He was born in Levittown, New Jersey, received degrees from RISD, designed buildings, illustrated for tv shows, created fine art for a monk, software publisher and movie actor, has exhibited in galleries and alleys and a suburban mall, had his tradigital work showcased in the cut and paste issue of idn magazine, was included in the contemporary collage book, cutting edges, was chosen for the feature article and covers of the inaugural issue of Kolaj magazine and was an original member of artists' books cooperative. He is based in Boston.
