Macba Collage Lab #1: Manifesto

(ENG) Our editor and co-curator, Max-o-matic, is working on a series of collage sessions at the Museu d´Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Macba) that we named Collage Lab. The spirit of the Lab is to rethink collage as we know it, and try to re-invent it, looking for freshness, new ideas and trying to move away from some of the cliches that had made of collage almost a dead media, where repetition seems mandatory and innovation forgotten.

The Collage Lab´s first session started with the conceptual guidelines that will guide us through this sessions: The Weird Show manifesto. This small piece puts into words some of our feelings and ideas about the state of contemporary collage and the path we´re interested in following as artists. After this, each one of the assistants, with their own experience and visual language, tried to twist they work process to find new ways to create using paper and scissors.

All collages were made by the collage lab attendees.
